Washing

Mohair, Wool, Cotton

Mohair and wool are not only a delight to wear; they also possess natural antibacterial properties, which make them a breeze to maintain. Instead of washing them frequently, simply airing them out is usually enough to make them fresh again. And if you're feeling extra fancy, a wool spray can add a soft scent while refreshing your knit.

In the event that your favorite mohair, wool, or cotton knit requires a proper wash, we recommend gentle hand washing in lukewarm water with a mild detergent formulated specifically for wool. Avoid wringing or scrubbing; instead, allow it to soak for a few minutes before rinsing it gently with fresh water. Carefully lift the knit, supporting its weight to prevent stretching. Gently squeeze out water without wringing, then roll it in a dry towel and press to remove excess water. Once clean, carefully shape your knit and lay it on a clean cotton towel to air dry in a shaded area away from direct sunlight.

Please avoid using a washing machine, even if it has a gentle or wool cycle, as it may damage your delicate hand-knits. Although dry cleaning may seem like a convenient option, it is not ideal for the environment or people. The dry cleaning process has a high carbon footprint and often involves harmful chemicals that can be toxic to cleaning workers. If a stain is stubborn, we recommend finding a professional who offers green dry cleaning services as an alternative.

Raffia

Please don't wash our raffia bags, just gently spot clean with a damp cloth, if needed.

Storing

Always store your hand-knit garments folded, rather than hanging them, to protect their shape. Our sweaters, cardigans, and crochet bags all come with a Plexida cotton dust bag that you can use to protect your items when traveling or to store them when you're not using them until next season.
