Our Materials
What something is made from matters. We choose our yarns and materials for how they feel, how they wear and how well they suit the piece we’re making.
Our materials are sourced from European suppliers, primarily through Greek businesses.
MOHAIR
Our signature mohair yarn is a premium Italian blend of 60% kid mohair and 40% microfiber. The microfiber adds strength, helps the knit hold its shape over time and keeps shedding to a minimum, while keeping the yarn light and soft.
Mohair is a bit of a magic fiber. It feels incredibly light and airy, but can still be wonderfully warm when you need it. That balance is part of what makes it so special to us.
Its fluffy surface gives Plexida knits their soft, hazy texture, and some shedding is completely normal, especially when a piece is new.
Best known for: lightness, warmth, softness and its airy, cloud-like texture.
WOOL
Our wool yarn is a 50% wool and 50% microfiber blend, and is OEKO-TEX certified. The microfiber adds strength and durability, helps the knit keep its shape over time and makes it more resistant to everyday wear.
Wool brings the warmth, breathability and natural resilience. It has a little more body than mohair, giving chunkier knits their texture and structure while still feeling soft and comfortable to wear.
Best known for: warmth, softness, breathability and durability.
COTTON
We use OEKO-TEX certified cotton yarns, either 100% cotton or a 50% cotton and 50% microfiber blend, depending on the design.
Cotton feels smooth, breathable and comfortable against the skin, which makes it especially good for lighter knits and pieces worn close to the body. In blended yarns, the microfiber adds strength and helps the knit keep its shape over time.
We choose the composition depending on what each design needs, rather than using the same yarn for everything.
Best known for: breathability, softness, comfort and a clean knitted texture.
RAFFIA
Our raffia bags are crocheted by hand from premium 100% Italian viscose raffia. It is plant-based, biodegradable and FSC certified, meaning it meets recognized standards for responsible sourcing of forest-based materials.
We chose this raffia for its quality. It has a structured feel, a subtle sheen and enough strength to hold its shape without feeling heavy. It is one of the finest raffia yarns we’ve worked with, and it makes a real difference in the finished piece.
Because every bag is made entirely by hand, the crochet itself becomes part of the character of each piece, with small variations that make every one slightly different.
Best known for: lightness, strength, structure and its subtle sheen.
